UNESCO WORLD TEACHERS' DAY
In October UNESCO celebrates World Teachers' Day. This year we want to say THANK YOU to those teachers who helped us bloom, or inspired us, or even changed our lives.
Leave your comment and share your experience.
World Teachers' Day 2013: A Call for teachers!
“A Call for Teachers!” is the slogan of World Teachers’ Day 2013 (5 October), which UNESCO is celebrating along with its partners, the International Labour Organization (ILO), UNDP, UNICEF and Education International (EI).
Since teachers are the most powerful force for equity, access and quality education, a call for teachers means calling for quality education for all.
Quality education offers hope and the promise of a better standard of living. There is no stronger foundation for lasting peace and sustainable development than a quality education provided by well trained, valued, supported and motivated teachers.
Why a call for teachers?
Because there is a huge shortage of professional, well-trained and well-supported teachers to achieve better quality education. The challenge of recruiting teachers does not lie just in the numbers, but in the provision of quality teachers. Far too often teachers remain under-qualified, poorly paid and with low status.
At UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, the focus of the 2013 World Teachers’ Day celebration on 4 October will be on tackling the teacher gap, barriers to better quality education and teachers’ role in developing globally-minded citizens.

GYMKANA IN THE OLD TOWN OF CÁCERES
On May, 22nd our 4th year students paticipated in a Gymkana in the old part. They had to accomplish some tasks related to English, History, P.E., Music and Maths in order to get their clues to finish the game.
Some people got lost, of course, but we all had fun along the way and it was a real pleasure to spend some hours of a wonderful sunny day in our medieval town.
Thank you very much to the Bilingual Section teachers and to our assistant teacher. Naomi, Alicia, Lázaro, Antonio and Irene were in the old part. Thank you to our history teacher, Jesús, who prepared the History task.
After the gymkana we relaxed having a drink in the school canteen. We had a great time!!!

NORBA ROMANCE FILMS WEEK
Mamma mia! (2008)
Set on a colorful Greek island, the plot serves as a background for a wealth of ABBA songs. A young woman about to be married discovers that any one of three men could be her father. She invites all three to the wedding without telling her mother, Donna, who was once the lead singer of Donna and the Dynamos. In the meantime, Donna has invited her backup singers, Rosie and Tanya.
Grease (1978)
A musical about teens in love in the 50's! It's California, 1959 and greaser Danny Zuko and Australian Sandy Olsson are in love. They spend time at the beach, but when they go back to school, what either of them don't know is that they both now attend Rydell High. Danny's the leader of the T-Birds, a group of black-jacket greasers while Sandy hangs with the Pink Ladies, a group of pink-wearing girls led by Rizzo. When they clash at Rydell's first pep rally, Danny isn't the same Danny at the beach. They try to be like each other so they can be together.
My big fat Greek wedding (2002)
Toula Portokalos is 30, Greek, and works in her family's restaurant, Dancing Zorba's, in Chicago. All her father Gus wants is for her to get married to a nice Greek boy. But Toula is looking for more in life. Her mother convinces Gus to let her take some computer classes at college (making him think it's his idea). With those classes under her belt, she then takes over her aunt's travel agency (again making her father think it's his idea). She meets Ian Miller, a high school English teacher, WASP (white anglo-saxon protestant), and dreamboat she had made a fool of herself over at the restaurant; they date secretly for a while before her family finds out. Her father is livid over her dating a non-Greek. He has to learn to accept Ian; Ian has to learn to accept Toula's huge family, and Toula has to learn to accept herself.
French Kiss (1995)
Kate and Charlie have a perfect life planned out before them: buying a house, marriage, kids, the whole works. Kate's fear of flying keeps her in Canada while Charlie goes to Paris for a medical convention. While there Charlie is smitten by the lovely Juliette. He calls off the wedding with Kate and she nervously boards a plane to get him back. She ends up sitting next to the petty French thief Luc Teyssier. He hides a stolen necklace and smuggled grape vine in her bag to get it through customs. Her bag is stolen, the necklace apparently lost, and Kate and Luc head to Cannes -- Luc to find the necklace and Kate get Charlie back. Along the way, Kate and Luc begin having feelings for each other -- which change the course of their lives.
